Experience

Mr. Gallup is an Architect and Design Partner at SWABACK. His rich professional background with multiple design-oriented firms in Washington DC, Virginia, San Francisco, and Arizona informs his artful approach to contextual design. Dual degrees in Architecture and Historic Preservation provide a rounded education. Graduating at the top of his class at Virginia Tech, Mr. Gallup was the sole student selected by Graduate Faculty to present his thesis at Critical MASS symposium at UNC Charlotte.

Work as a preservation specialist characterized Mr. Gallup’s early years spent in the Washington DC metro area. Notable projects include the Bowieville Mansion, a historic Federal Style mansion in Maryland listed on the National Register. More recently, he was instrumental in the historic rehabilitation of the former boys’ dormitory on the historic Fort Apache campus in western Arizona.  This elegant Neoclassical building is also National Register listed.  Subsequent years have seen him become an expert in high-end residential design.

Mr. Gallup has excellent graphic capabilities across the spectrum of standard architectural media and has an aptitude for producing highly detailed drawings. He is particularly skilled at hand drafting concepts and then synthesizing them into the complex three-dimensional computer models that form the backbone of the construction documents. An able communicator, he quickly distils preliminary ideas into viable solutions that are easily understood by clients, consultants, and builders.
